Across the mines of Montevecchio and the dunes of Piscinas
Across the mines of Montevecchio and the dunes of Piscinas: 45 KM; D + 950 M In the first km we will follow the coastline in a series of gentle ups and downs that will help our legs warm up. We leave the coastline to climb along a ridge where we will test our tyres and our climbing technique. Nothing too complicated. The scenery we take in while we are on the path will make us forget any kind of effort. We’ll dive down into the path that winds through the Mediterranean scrub. We’ll end our day on the wonderful beach of Piscinas, with its majestic dunes that are over 60m high!
From Piscinas to Fighezia
From Piscinas to Fighezia: 42 KM; D + 800 M We will follow the dirt road to the mining village of Ingurtosu. From here we continue on asphalt for about 2km to the entrance of the scenic route: a dirt road that lays on the hillside providing us an unforgettable view looking out on two of the most beautiful beaches on the island, Piscinas and Scivu. The road is slightly uphill and takes us on a challenging dirt road, a steep path with a rocky base. A succession of ups and downs will take us to the valley of Sibiri.
Quaddu Murru and Capo Pecora Loops
Quaddu Murru and Capo Pecora Loops: 52 KM; D + 950 M On the road we enjoy the panoramic views of the beautiful and wild Costa Verde. After a few km we leave the asphalt to continue cycling on a wide dirt road. The climb is long, but never really too steep. Once on the top, we will rest our legs a while before our wonderful and rewarding descent along the mountain ridge. The second part of the descent becomes a little more technical, but equally fun.
The Temple of Antas
The Temple of Antas: 48 KM; D + 850 M We’ll reach the junction that leads to the Roman temple of Antas. We can visit the temple or, in any case, enjoy the refreshment kiosk at the entrance. From the temple you enter a dirt track that remains in the valley for a while, until it climbs up it to enjoy the view of the archaeological site. From here we descend to the famous caves of Su Mannau. It is worth spending an hour to visit them. The part that is open to tourists unfolds for 500 meters and it winds around on spacious and comfortable walkways suspended over beautiful emerald green lakes.
From Fighezia to Nebida
From Fighezia to Nebida: 45 KM; D + 1250 M We start from Fighezia along the asphalt road for Buggerru, from here we go up an old mining road and ride along the old railway to the top of the headland. We continue along a dirt road to the charming old abandoned village of Planu Sardu. A single, technical and very entertaining track will take us to Cala Domestica, one of the most beautiful bays in Sardinia.
Here our beautiful week in wild and beautiful south-western Sardinia comes to an end. After breakfast, there will be the transfer to Cagliari. Have a good time!
